‘My Best Life’s’ Good Egg’s Stall

My Best Life Australia’ (MBLA) believes that it is completely absurd to waste perfectly fresh eggs. And we don’t believe in profiting of them. A good egg is a good egg, and you deserve it.

Every week, MBLA actively works with Salvation Army Australia to provide fresh, free-ranged eggs to the Rockdale community. Our team of volunteers work tirelessly through thousands of small, medium, large… x-large (and even jumbo!) sized eggs and tape them onto trays, ready to be given to the public. To give you an idea, MBLA volunteers sort through 3,240 eggs every Friday at Rockdale Salvos, which is about 15x the Australian average yearly intake of eggs per person!

The eggs MBLA are given are the ones deemed too “big” or too “small” to be sold on the shelf, and the ones big supermarket companies shy away from. Australian farmers hate to throw away perfectly good produce and so do we. A truck full of freshly laid eggs arrives every Thursday at the Rockdale Salvos, and the rest is left to us. We study each individual egg, looking for any perforations on the shell and checking if the membrane is in good condition. And then off they’re packed, ready to be given to anyone hungry for some eggs!

When supermarket stores flood with people, our Good Egg stall is here to provide the safer option. You’ll find all our volunteers operating behind a sanitiser and using a face mask and gloves. We follow World Health Organisation guidelines and ensure we maintain safe hygiene practise.

So if you feel like you’ve been failed by unmanaged and unregulated supermarket stores, you will find the Rockdale Salvation Army just off President avenue, next to the Plus Fitness gym, where our volunteers, fitted with an apron and gloves, can give you a tray of eggs. There you’ll find us! In the kitchen window besides the Rockdale Salvation Army entrance, ready for you to take home to your family, friends and neighbours.

You are all welcome to our Good Egg stall.
